Behind The Lens

Location

Zaanse Schaans is a small village in Zaandam in Netherlands, home to these really old windmills on the banks of the Zaanse River.

Time

It was the dying light of sunset when I saw these moody colors and thus my photo

Lighting

Summer sunsets are interesting with clearer skies and if you are in open spaces the colors of the sunset sky is visible and add the drama in the sky.

Equipment

I clicked this on my phone at it was my unplanned visit without a camera. Shot this in Pro mode of Oneplus 6.

Inspiration

The greens in the forground, the Green windmill with orange sky of sunset is a bringing a contrasting colors.

Editing

I color graded this photo to mute slight blueish hues to move it towards purple/orange and make it a chemistry of complimentary colors.

In my camera bag

I have a Canon80D, 18-135mm, 50mm and 55-250mm lenses. My phone Oneplus6, Samsung Galaxy S20FE (new addition), Zhiyun Smooth 4 Gimbal, DJI Mavic Mini drone, GoPro3+ silver.

Feedback

Always watch for the lights in the Golden hour and always think of contrasting colors in composing your shot and also color grading in post processing is important.
