Dwarf Beech (Fagus sylvatica variety tortuosa). These very special forms of the twisted beech tree can only be seen in three places in Europe. These grow in the forest of Verzy, 25 km south of Reims in France, outside Hanover and here in Trollskogen outside Lund, Sweden.

Trollskogen
Spridda i bokskogen och i en grupp nära vägen finner man egendomligt förvridna vresbokar eller trollabokar. Varför just dessa bokar har fått ett så spännande utseende är ett mysterium. Förr trodde man att trollen vridit till dem. Idag är man osäker på vad som beror på arv (mutation) eller på miljön på växtplatsen. Ekollon från vresbok växer som regel upp till vanliga rakstammiga bokar.
