Location
Our home is in Kent, Washington. The bird feeder is at the rear of the house hanging from the roof overhang visible from a large window. It is great place for me to setup my Nikon D7000 with a 500mm Sigma lens on a tripod to get the birds feeding. We have numerous stellers jays in the area and they are a very active bird with a lot of chattering. I am so please with the detail in the picture to be able, if wanted, to count feather hairs. In back is a forest of large maple and fir trees on the hilly terrain behind the house.Time
Morning getting the early sun. As the sun rises and swings to the west the area is in the shade of the large trees for the rest of the day.Lighting
Strictly available light.Equipment
Nikon D7000 body, Sigma 500mm telephoto lens on a tripod and remote control to minimize vibration.Inspiration
We have numerous bird at feeders over the deck. It gave me a great opportunity to enjoy my photography with great birds in the area. With hawks, eagles, ducks, canadian geese and other small birds in the area it's a great place for photography for an amateur photographer to practice with great pleasure.Editing
Yes for these pictures I used Apple software "Aperture 3". It and the replacing software "Photos" I find easy to use with good results. In my camera bag
Camera, 200mm lens, polaroid filter, neutral density filter, remote cable, memory cards, Hoodman viewer, batteries and charger.Feedback
Just have patients to photo birds and nervous nature and have exposure and all setup because the birds are quick.
