Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken in my studio, which has great natural light. The model is my daughter and she is wearing my wedding gown that my mother designed and sewed for me. Each bead is hand stitched! Every Rose is handmade as well. I wanted to capture the drape of the fabric and have her move a bit in the pose, so it would be less static.Time
I believe we shot this mid day, and it was right after a storm had blown through. So the light was a bit diffused naturally.Lighting
To create this shot I used both natural light and one off camera flash.Equipment
Camera was my Canon 5D Classic, and I believe this was shot using a 16-24 mm lens. It may have been my 100 2.0 mm lens though! I used a Godox AD 200 on a Magmod soft box with a diffuser.Inspiration
I wanted to do a shoot that was bridal in flavor, but something magical happened when I saw my daughter put on this special dress. I was so grateful to be able to see it on her, and appreciate all the time, effort and skill that went into creating this gown- I feel like 3 women and 3 generations played a part in this image!Editing
I lightly edited this image in Lightroom. In my camera bag
Currently I am shooting with a Canon 6d mark 2 and go back and forth between my 100mm and my 24-70 lenses.Feedback
I shot this image using a seamless background to keep the focus on my subject. I think part of the success is in having my model slowly move her dress is part of the appeal and success of this shot.
