Today we decided to go to one of my favorite local state parks, Myakka River State Park. We went a bit early in the season for a lot of what it is known for, orchids, baby deer and yellow fields of flowers but we did see lots of gators and were there for a really nice sunset. The colors faded fast on the sunset but while it lasted it was beautiful. Here is a view from Myakka Lake, a part of the Myakka River widened by a weir pretty much where the sun is setting. On our boat tour we were told there were 1500 alligators in the lake. I highly recommend a leisurely visit to Myakka River State Park if you are in Florida.
