Behind The Lens

Location

The photograph was taken at Whipsnade Zoo, Bedfordshire. The site has extensive parkland allowing superb settings for photographers

Time

The image was taken about 14.40hrs

Lighting

Normal autumnal day generally overcast

Equipment

I use two Nikons, this particular image was with my D5500 and 70-300mm Nikon lens. No flash and handheld

Inspiration

The Penguins were being very vocal, this one in particular, I waited until the penguin was giving a full call

Editing

Only post processing involved slight cropping

In my camera bag

For a visit of this nature I would carry both Nikon D5300 and D5500, with a Nikon 18-140, 70-300 and Sigma 150-500mm. Together with a monopod, spare battery, Colin Filter to include polarising, lens hoods

Feedback

Take time to select and frame the image allowing possible cropping, consider any backlighting and possibly locking the exposure/focus if the subject is stationary.
