Behind The Lens

Location

This was shot in Sariska National Park, India. There is a temple at the end of safari inside the park where lot of monkeys and devotees create considerable commotion.

Time

I remember this was family trip and during morning safari and we should have been at the spot by around 8:00 am.

Lighting

Although a bright morning, there was light and shade due to presence of trees around. This helped in capturing beautiful diffused light.

Equipment

This was shot handheld on my Nikon D3100 using a Tamarin 70-300mm zoom lens. I could use iso800 as there was enough light and gave me a perfect sharp capture.

Inspiration

I am always in awe of the love and patience a mother can gather for their babies. On the spot, although there was immense activity, majorly of nuisance value created by fellow simian mates, this mother could make herself and her hungry baby insulated from all the humdrum and feed it the morning elixir of life..

Editing

Not being an expert with the widely used Lightroom/Photoshop, I have used some mobile photo editing app, I think, was Snapseed to adjust the WB and exposure a bit.

In my camera bag

Now I carry my newly acquired D5300 and my old faithful D3100. I also carry a kit lens 18-55mm, a 35mm Nikon prime and 55-300 mm Nikon zoom lens.. most of the shots are taken handheld as I am generally taking pictures on the go without much of a setup.

Feedback

India holds such plethora of diverse photographing opportunities that it will gratify any photographer and if you have an eye to notice, the possibilities are endless.. So just pack your bag and move around with a shooter around your neck :)
