Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a local nature reserve called Castle Espie. It is on an ancient site that was a brick factory. It has Li ks to a local monastery.

Time

This photo was taken at around 3pm on a visit with my daughter to Castle Espie wetlands. The Robin followed us on journey round the wetlands.

Lighting

It was just taken with natural light on bright sunny day.

Equipment

It was taken hand held using a nikon d3200 and a kit nikon 50 - 200 lens.

Inspiration

Just the fact the Robin followed my daughter and me around all day. At one point when we sat to eat lunch at a picnic table this Robin sat with us.

Editing

The photo was heavily cropped with some minor exposure and colour adjustments to bring the Robins colours out.

In my camera bag

I normal have a 50mm prime zoom and a 17-70 tokina lens in my BAG. Along with a godox 860vnii flash, a set of gels, a snoot and a grid. I also. Carry off camera flash trigger. A recent purchase of clips to attach my flash to various pipes, branches or even tripod leg.

Feedback

The most important advice is to slow down and not rush. Nature shots like this require alot of sitting for hrs sometimes as animals don't always do what you want. There is nothing better than sitting out with nature and enjoy the peace and quiet.
