Location
I took this photo in my studio using studio strobes. Then I replaced the background later in post-production.Time
This shot was captured in the evening. I killed all the ambient lights so I could get control over the light through my flashes.Lighting
I used a high-contrast lighting to create a dramatic effect and draw more attention to the model.Equipment
I shot this commercial portraiture with 1/160 sec shutter speed at f/16 with Canon 100 mm f/2.8 lens. For lighting, I used two Profoto D1 500s. One attached to a Octabox as the main light, and other one with a 2x3 softbox for the fill light. I placed two black reflectors on the either side of the model to produce a nice even contrast on the his face.Inspiration
The green color of the face of the watch wore by the model inspires me to achieve this look.Editing
I retouched the model’s skin using the high-frequency technique, and replaced the background in Photoshop. In my camera bag
My camera and lenses. Two studio strobes with their reflectors. Radio trigger, cables and my color checker.Feedback
In order to achieve a beautiful portrait shot, always remember to communicate with your model in a very positive and energetic way.
