Location
I took this photo outside my bedroom window, of the view across our sheep farm in Western Australia. It’s a favourite scene and subject matter l have taken over the past 5 years of picking up a camera.Time
I took this shot in autumn and as my bedroom window faces east .lam blessed with gift of sunrise as it unfolds everyday over the mountains in the distance. Our autumn’s here are incredible and the light is always more dramatic as we often get mist settling in the valleys. It’s a magical time of the year for us, because it’s a time when our rains return and the land is becoming regenerated. So this shot is a gift from nature,”sun blessed”Lighting
As l woke this early autumn morning to the magpie calls ,l was blown away with the suns rays breaking across the farm so l was dealing with a lot of direct lighting so l focused more on the mist in the valley to bring our the spiritual nature of this shot.Equipment
I am not a professional photographer but l love my Nickon D60 digital camera and generally like using the telescopic lens so l can zoom in on my focus.Inspiration
I have a very spiritual connection to the land, so waking to this amazing sunrise, how could l not want to record it. Natures a total inspiration for me everyday of my life. In general I love taken landscapes especially around sunrise and sunset cause the lighting is so much more intensified . Colours my thing so lam really tuned into the light contract in nature, for example when the sun slowly descends across the land It’s capturing that beautiful contrast of light as it highlights eucalyptus trees and shadows across nature, a very mystical moment.Editing
My editing was just a little tweaking to bring out the colours that were already there. Just warmed things up a bit.In my camera bag
I like to carry a couple of lens with me in my bag. Not a pro but would like to upgrade to a Len which is more suited to wider vision for landscapesFeedback
Nothing like be inspired on the the spire of the moment but a bit of planning never goes astray. Having the camera on hand especially during the magical hours of sunrise and sunset, fully charged and ready to go.!
