Location
This man was walking around Durbar Square, in Kathmandu, Nepal. This was one of my very first street portraits ever and, since then, I love portraits more than any other kind of photography.Time
It was made around midday, I've arrived the previous evening and was wandering around the area of Thamel, in Kathmandu.Lighting
Even though it was midday and the light was quite harsh, there were some trees and buildings around the area where I've found this man, so I was able to find a spot where some light rays were coming through, so his face was bathed with a mix of light and shade.Equipment
I've used a 50mm lens on a Nikon D7000, so the actual focal length is about 75mm.Inspiration
This man was a beggar and his body revealed physical weakness, he was mostly flesh and bones, but his face and, especially, his eyes, were saying something completely different. That's why I decided to take a photo just of his face.Editing
I always do some post-processing, but very basic, and changing only the exposure, contrast, highlights, and shades. In my camera bag
At the moment, I'm using a Micro 4/3 Panasonic Lumix GX9 and a Lumix 35-100 f2.8 (Equal to 70-200mm on a full-frame body)Feedback
Shooting, shooting, shooting, and more shooting... + some theory on photography is always welcome too.
