Erin. Erin was my muse. Her beauty is uncommon, mysterious, there is a dark side to her appeal. I find her beauty to be compelling, but I felt drawn to do a fashion shoot, rather than an artistic nude, or a figure shoot. I was called to explore that edge between fully dressed and almost not. We spent much of our time sharing stories. Erin is studying to be a nurse, and we spoke of the challenges and privileges of being good company for those who need it. At the same time, during this shoot, we found it easy to be good company together. I am delighted to revisit these images.

Location
A dear friend has an intimate, welcoming, indoor-outdoor home in Santa Fe, and they were kind enough to let me use their house for this shoot with Erin when they were away. We had a lovely time, finding unexpected little corners in rooms, surprising places along a wall, in the garden, or a corner of a room, each sweetly magical in its own way.Time
It was summer, so the afternoon went on and on. We shot from around 2 until almost 9, enjoying the slowly shifting summer glow, the gloaming, the golden hour, which seemed to last forever.Lighting
It was perfect, a windless, exquisitely quiet light, one that effortlessly illuminated Erin, her mysterious beauty shape-shifting with the so very slowly setting sun.Equipment
I had a ridiculous collection of exotic lights, lenses, tripods, cameras, but once I picked up my go-to Nikon D5000 w/ 50mm lens, it never left my hands until dark.Inspiration
Erin. The whole day, Erin. Her beauty has a quality of secrecy, intrigue, and mystery. I had been wanting to collaborate with her on a fashion shoot, but in a more personal, spontaneous, intimate way a portrait or editorial session might go. She is studying to be a nurse, and we spoke of kindness, generosity, and service to others. This adds to the beauty that naturally erupts from deep within her.Editing
