Behind The Lens

Location

I took this in my garden in Pittsburgh, PA. I try and plant a variety to inspire me since my passion is flower pictures. And it is different each day.

Time

Since I am a real morning person a good deal of my pictures are taken then. This was just after a short rainstorm mid morning.

Lighting

I do not use any extra lighting technique though am anxious to experiment more. This was just a process of seeing how and where the raindrops were best highlighted. The Cleome flower is large but delicate and I needed to make sure some of the very thin petals were shown.

Equipment

This was shot with a Fujifilm HS30EXR. No other items but used the close up setting.

Inspiration

I just love walking around, especially lovely summer mornings, to see new growth and angles for new pictures. I liked the way that both petals and water droplets are delicate and were momentarily in this display.

Editing

This turned out to be quite pleasing to me but brought up the intensity just a trace.

In my camera bag

I am still in early stages of renewed interest in photography after many years absence. At that time is was slides and film. So will eventually move up from my current Finepix Fuji camera but also still like some of its simplicity.

Feedback

For flower and plant pictures my one bit of advise is to be looking at all angles even if it means laying on the ground! With flower closeups moving the camera a fraction can make a big difference in the appeal of the picture. So moving around, below and above in small increments can bring about many different views.
