One of the last scenes I photographed was near the lava river at the end of Leilani avenue. A huge tornado formed above it during a particularly foggy and steaming night. I watched it form and due to having only one camera set up I had to switch between stills and video to capture what I could of this special phenomenon that suddenly appeared while on media escort. The colours are real. It was shot at twilight and the eruption created so many different and unique hues in the sky day and night!
