I did this photo at home, in Basel. Maria, who you can see on the picture, is a friend of mine from Moscow, and she visited me. Since she is a very beautiful woman, we thought it would be also a good opportunity to make some pictures of her.Time
It was during the night actually, and i used artifical light with softboxes.Lighting
We tried different lightpositions, back then i just had some lightbulbs with a cheap stand and a sofbox. But i think it is not the material what you use matters, but how you use it. So we were experimenting with light and poses, and what i wanted to accentuate, was her lips and eyes.Equipment
I used a Nikon D7100 with a nifty fifty, so 50mm 1.8. Really not the most expensive setup... Lightsetup was also very cheap, like max 100 USD all together, nothing too fancy...Background was my white wall.Inspiration
Hmm...she gave me the inspiration with her beauty.Editing
Yes, i always do. I used Photoshop. Her hair is not blue in real life but brown...i went a bit for "manga" feel. Also the lips is a bit pinker than in real life. I didn't really have to retouch her face, because she has very nice skin.In my camera bag
Well now, i have a Nikon z6, and when i travel, i use the 24-70 f4, because it is light and it is quite alround. Otherwise i use the new 50mm lens for Z mount, also use the Nikon 105 Macro because i like a lot its character for portriat. I recently i have discovered a very beautiful, old, manual lens the Topcon 58mm f1.8. It has a very "dreamy" look, which i find very beautiful.Feedback
If you have a shining model of course it is much easier to make a nice portriat! But you can experiment, maybe it is easier with a friend, and find beauty together!
