Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on one of my skiing trips at Filefjell, Norway. Filefjell is connected to the more famous Jotunheimen mountain range.

Time

The photo is taken towards the end of the day, which in winter is actually in the afternoon. You can see the sun is beginning to set between the two mountains in the distant.

Lighting

The lighting is all natural, but I did a bit of postprocessing in Lightroom to "get it right", i.e. to my liking :).

Equipment

It was shot with a smartphone, the Huawei Mate 10 Pro. Not my first choice of camera, but at this particular trip I didn't want to bring anything heavier, since it was kind of a last minute trip before the sun set.

Inspiration

Not much of inspiration really, more of a being at the right place at the right time all by chance.

Editing

I did a bit of postprocessing in Lightroom, mostly adjusting the curves, exposure, temperature etc in order to make the picture match the one I remembered I saw when taking the shot.

In my camera bag

I try to keep as light as possible, but I'm very fond of my Canon EOS R combined with the Canon RF 24-105 mm F4L IS USM. Sometimes I bring a tripod, often not.

Feedback

The best advice I guess is to bring a camera as often as possible, get out so you are there if the opportunity presents itself, and shoot. Better to have something on the memorycard than nothing at all.
