Location
Whilst on a trip to India I visited Majorda beach in the South Goa regionTime
This was an evening shot at around 5:30-6pm or so with the sun just setting on the horizonLighting
The lighting and colors were just great, you couldn't help but take a great image. I love to shoot at either sunrise or sunset like most photographers as we all know these time are probably the best times for great lighting.Equipment
I was handheld with a Nikon D750 and my trusty walkabout lens the sigma 24-104mm art. I love this combo, they work so well together and I have taken so many images with these combined.Inspiration
after a hectic day exploring I decided to take a walk along the beach to absorb everything I had seen and done so I sat next to this boat, I'm not sure why but it seemed to be doing the same as me, just relaxing after a busy day and wanting to just experience the sunset in peace.Editing
I edit all of my images in Lightroom and Photoshop, I like to bump the colors and contrast and add elements that may have been there but not captured int he way I like (the lens flare was an addition on this occasion)In my camera bag
I generally travel light, just my camera, my 24-105mm sigma and maybe a nifty 50mm in a bag for a little variation, I try not to get hung up on gear, I prefer to push my self and use what I have to hand and problem solve where I need to.Feedback
For me, if you want to get a good sunset image you have to do your research first, I use the photopills app to get a good idea of times the actual location of the sun at various times of the day, I also use google maps to scout places I've never been before to see if there is anything of interest for me to capture. also, I like to look at other peoples images from that area to get a little inspiration before my visit. I'm working on really getting my own style and with every picture I take I look at my past work and critic it to see what I can change the next time I shot and make sure I think about this when I'm on location. most of all and as corny as it sounds I just try to take in what's around me and get a fee for what I'm experiencing and try ad get this across in the pictures I take.
