Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken on our Hobby Farm, 12 acres, located in Central Kansas. I sat on a small stool in order to attain the proper height, and the camera was hand held.Time
This photo was taken late afternoon, which is my favorite time for shooting pics.Lighting
Late afternoon natural lighting worked well for this photo.Equipment
I shot this photo with my SONY RX10 . I placed an old blue sheet of tin behind the chickenwire, in order to attain a blue background. The tin also served to block some distractions which I had picked up in several earlier attempts at photographing my rooster.Inspiration
I was inspired to photograph my rooster because I love his rich coloring, the textures of his feathers. I also had been practicing focusing on the eyes.Editing
For Post Processing, I used LUMINAR, having shot in RAW format, and barely tweaked the details. I chose not to make any adjustments with Saturation, as I wanted to portray the natural coloring of my rooster. In my camera bag
In my bag I normally carry my SONY ILCE-7M2, wide angle lens, zoom lens, and macro lens... and also for fun, I include a LENSBALL. I have recently purchased a SONY RX10, which now is my main go to camera.Feedback
When capturing images of domestic animals, plan on spending some time observing their habits, and getting them more comfortable with you being nearby and pointing a camera at them. I shot this photo after FEEDING TIME, and sat on a folding stool, avoiding a lot of movement while on their turf. Take a lot of shots! and remember that focusing on the eye creates the best photos.
