Behind The Lens

Location

I took this shot in a mosque in Turkey. This man was reading the Holy Book Quran and I decided to take a shot but I wanted it to be a bit unusual view. So I decided to climb the minbar ( pulpit ) where the imams use it during the khutbah on Jumah Prayers.

Time

It was a midday almost afternoon like 3-4pm

Lighting

I only used the side ligthing coming from the window on the right. I didnt use any flash setup.

Equipment

I used my Nikon D800 and 24-70mm 2.8G N Nikkor lens. I didnt use any other equipment.

Inspiration

I mainly love taking street/documentary shots and I thought this scene would be worth trying to shoot.

Editing

Yes , most of my images are converted to B&W and I did the same process in this shot. I didnt do much actually just some minor light/contrast adjustments bc it was almost like the way I wanted in the camera.

In my camera bag

I have a Nikon D800 24-70mm 2.8G N Nikkor 70-200mm 2.8G N VR2 Nikkor B+W CPL Polarizer B+W ND110 10Stop Filter Vanguard AltaPro Tripod Manfrotto Ballhead Phottix Remote control

Feedback

Well to be honest I always in pursuit of creating the best shots but its not always possible so the key is to get a great shot is TRYING AND TRYING! Look for the details in your neighbourhood you will definitely will find something different. And if the light is great for your chance no reason not to get a great shot! As I say , I'm an amateur photographer and I still struggle to improve myself as much as I can! Look for quality images and demand some constructive critiques for your images. This will help you improve yourself faster than you think! Regards, Yavuz
