This photo was my first eclispe attempt ever. I was so excited and planned for it with work. At the time I did not have a telescope so my trusty little canon powershot was all I had. It was very cold that night but it was also exciting as this was the first time I had ever watched let alone take pictures of an eclipse. I did not get the whole eclispe as clouds took over towards the end of it. But I was truly amazed watching it turn blood red. I did as little of tinkering with the color during post processing editing as possible to keep it the way it was seen. I cannot wait to photograph another one, and this time will be my telescope/ camera set up.Time
It started late in the night until morning and it was really cold.Lighting
no lighting. night time moon shotEquipment
hand held , yes ! hand held at the time I did not even own a tripod. canon powershot camera.Inspiration
I was just learning about astrophotography, and learning about milky way and how to photograph it. also was learning about galaxy and other star shots. I have always liked to take moon pictures and the eclispe was definitely on my to do list. I was hoping it would have good results.Editing
lightroom post processing. clarified details, light , shadows and dehaze. I tried to keep the coloring as I seen it thru the lens other wise just sharpened it up as best I could and keeping the noise down.In my camera bag
LOL i have a cart full now. When I grab and go I take my pentax k1 with the 70 to 300 mm lens, if I know I might need a wide lens I will grab the 17 to 55 mm lens. Sometimes I just take my trusty point and shoot canon powershot. But if I am on a mission such as a milky way shot in front of a certain foreground or galaxy shots I have : skywatcher eqm 35 pro mount, and a skywatcher HEQ 6 , william optics red cat telescope, and an explore scientific 127 mm telescope with a whopping 952 mm focal length, my computer , asi air pro, ZWO EAF, which guides, auto focus, and 2 asi zwo cameras and off axis guider .Feedback
practice practice practice . trial and error and readjusting from the errors is a good thing. Don't think you have to spend a lot of money on gear to get good pictures.... wait for sales, used equipment, save up for the big ticket items , do not go into debt. Take pictures of whatever catches your eye or comes from your mind. JUST BE YOU and your pictures will reflect that , they will be real and yours! If you are happy with it then it's a good picture! and have fun . For me taking pictures is my peace, refreshing time for my soul and mind. A way for me to relax and pour myself into it and feel renewed at the same time. and sometimes it makes a pretty spot on the wall.
