The biggest Aurora Australis I have ever seen!
Oh what an amazing night!!
I was running a learn how to shoot the night sky session last night. There were murmurs during the day that there might be a reasonable chance for viewing an aurora on the night, so I made sure we got out to the shooting spot early.
After the cameras were all set up and I had shown the correct settings, focusing in the dark etc, the aurora alert buzzer went off in my pocket. Good timing!
Sure enough the sky started to glow. We could see naked eye the big band of aurora. Although of course our eyes cannot perceive the colour that the camera gets when open for 20 seconds.
It was the most amazing Aurora Australis that I have ever seen.
