Location
The photo was taken on Staten Island shore (NY) at the end of a Golden Hour. The place is called Conference House Park. I am a self tought photographer and photography is my hobby.Time
The image was taken on 12/23/2018 at 5.47 pm. I was exploring a new beach where I have never been before with my friend photographer Marat.Lighting
I was looking for the opportunity to take a minimalistic shot and on that day conditions were almost perfect to do so. Saying almost I meant that the light was fading really fast toward the blue hour and I had to work fast.Equipment
The shot was taken using Sony A7 R II, lens Sony FE 16-35 F 2.8. 8.0 sec at F22. I used Sony propraitary app " Smooth reflections" which basically does stacking of a few images to achieve silky water surface. It is sort of substitute for ND filters. I had a tripod Oben and remote Vello.Inspiration
I had this kind of image in my mind when we were going shooting with my fellow friend photographer Marat and was very happy when I found the exactly set up I was looking for.Editing
The image was developed using Luminar software. The bigest challenge for was to fight the dominance of a blue color and achieve an emotional mood i was looking for. I managed to to this by using Luminar LUT " Red Trace" about 70% to get reed of almost all colors exept the red tones. In my camera bag
My standard gear I cary: Sony A 7 R II Sony FE 16-35 Sony FE 24-105 Sony FE 100-400 Sony Teleconverter 1.4 Breackthrough Tech ND filters ( 3, 6, 10, 15 and a soft gradient) Breakthrough Circular Polarizer Vello remote Oben TripodFeedback
The best advise is to go out and try, be in right place in right time, do not be afraid to experiment. Good luck!
