This photo was taken on a hot January morning with the bees gathering around the bird bath quite early ....the photo took about an hour to get ....which might not sound much but when the sun is beating down it was a challenge......I was just about to give up and then....perseverance paid off!!!Time
About 0800 ish .....i noticed how many bees were buzzing around the bird bath and thought I might get lucky with a photograph .....I certainly wouldn’t have gone out later as it was so hot!!Lighting
Trying to get photos with bees I find it much easier to track the bees using the screen as opposed to the viewfinder ...you can incorporate a lot more in you vision than having your eye up against the viewfinderEquipment
Olympus camera settings 60mm f/7.1 1/1600 ISO400 Hand held .....Inspiration
I absolutely love seeing the bees buzzing around the bird bath and it makes me feel happy to think in some small way I’m contributing to keeping these amazing insects happy .....without bees (and frogs ) the world could be in a lot of troubleEditing
I use in moderation the crop saturation noise contrast etc toolsIn my camera bag
I usually just have one zoom and one macro ....but if going out specifically to take photos...different lenses and a another camera ..a canon and of course an iPhone!!!Feedback
For bees ....water baths ..Rosemary bushes ....or any flower really ....in australia I’ve got a lot of native plants ....blue flowers which bees are apparently attracted to
