Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on the shore of the beach at Fort DeSoto park.

Time

The sun was setting, and I was afraid of losing the light.

Lighting

I wanted to have the viewer focus on the reflection and keep the real view slightly out of focus.

Equipment

Canon 80D and a crystal ball. That’s it.

Inspiration

Photography and nature help me feel at peace with the world. I was on the beach alone, enjoying the silence when an idea just popped in my head.

Editing

I used Lightroom to up the vibrancy of the colors of the sunset.

In my camera bag

I usually have a lens for every situation: 100mm macro, 15-85mm for landscape, and 100-400mm for birds or far off objects.

Feedback

This shot was taken on a whim. I always try to be as prepared as possible, but sometimes you have to follow your instincts!
