Location
This was taken at KGNP , Bharatpur , Rajasthan , India . The park is popular for migratory birds .Other common sightings are Jackals, Monitor Lizard, snakes , Spotted Deer , Blue Bulls, monkeys , jungle cat etc.Time
After spending entire day in park we were returning back , it was late afternoon , the sky was cloudy . A pair of Spotted Deer and Blue Bull were crossing the road , when they saw us they suddenly stopped and started looking curiously at us . The shot was taken lying down on the ground .Lighting
The late afternoon cloudy sky gave this wonderful lighting effect .Equipment
This was shot with Canon 500 D with Canon 100 - 400 IS Lens . The shot was handheld taken lying down on the ground . Flash did not fire .Inspiration
In this park at the end of every road you will find some interesting moment happening with amazing light . We did miss the sighting of Sarus Cranes on that day but this shot was a gift for me from these beautiful residents of the jungle .Editing
The original image was coloured , I just used Desaturate and Shadows/Highlight tool in Photoshop CS 5 to get this effect .In my camera bag
I always carry my Canon 100 - 400 mm , 18 -55 mm kit lens and Canon 100 mm Macro lens with me . Recently I have upgraded to Canon 5D MK III with Kit lens 24 -105 mm .Feedback
Light plays an important role in such kind of images . Also ground level shots gives a great foreground and background . The subjects directly looking towards the camera creates a very interesting story , its like instant bonding with the viewer . The jungle always offers you something interesting so always keep your camera ready .
