Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken at my native, Kankavali town in the state of Maharashtra in India. This bird species is Orange Headed Rock Thrush and it used to frequent my home backyard and garden. I kept observing it keenly and took a lot of images. This is one of those images where I tried to go as low as possible to take that eye level shot

Time

This image was taken at evening around 5-6 pm.

Lighting

My home garden is well shaded with lots of trees and it's canopies. So taking image in such shady low lit area is challenging. Also in this case light was diminishing due to setting sun and I had to use high ISO with flash to get a decent image.

Equipment

Camera : Canon EOS 600D Lens: Canon EF-S 100-400mm IS I Camera flash fired.

Inspiration

As I said, this bird use to frequent my home garden almost as if, it was a resident of that area. I loved to make it's images while it kept foraging on ground by turning leaves and searching for insects.

Editing

Very minimal post processing to enhance colour and adjust noise due to high ISO.

In my camera bag

My camera bag consist of my DSLR Canon EOS 600D.l, my primary lens Canon EF 100-400mm. I also pack other lense such as Canon EF 10-135mm and Canon EF 50mm.

Feedback

Always try to first observe your subject, in this case a bird. A bird is very choosy of it's surrounding and will always frequent a place that it visits. So be patient and calm and wait for the right opportunity to take a best shot.
