Behind The Lens
Location
The picture was taken in a small town in southern Russia. As a location, a heap was formed, formed by waste rock from coal mining, was chosen. I really liked the texture of these stones of red brick color.Time
The picture was taken in the middle of August, at 16:34. The car had to be left far enough away and go to the location on foot, under the hot sun. We were saved from the heat by the fact that it was the northern slope and we were in the shadow.Lighting
The shooting took place in the shadow of the slope, so the light was very soft. Unfortunately, the beautiful place was very small and only on the northern slope, so it was not possible to use direct sunlight for greater contrast.Equipment
I use Canon 5D Mark II with Canon EF16-35 f/2.8 II L. Picture taken at 1/100, f/4.0, ISO 100 and focal lenght - 25 mm. A black fabric 5 meters long was used as the dress for the model.Inspiration
Slagheap, which are many in this town, is impressive with its lifelessness. I wanted to emphasize this by placing a beautiful girl in such a location.Editing
Post-processing was performed in two stages. 1 - Correction of brightness, lights and shadows was carried out in the lightroom. Manipulations in the yellow and green channels were diverted into dark green vegetation. And also, with the help of graduated filters, the contrast around the model was added and the detailing on the black fabric was emphasized. 2 - filter Liquify was used in Photoshop for a small correction of the folds of black fabric.In my camera bag
Usually in my backpack are: two Canon 5D Mark II, lenses Canon EF35 f/1.4 L, Canon EF50 f/1.4 and Canon EF85 f/1.8, a spare battery, several flash drives and Sanho HyperDrive ColorSpace UDMA for backup.Feedback
Taking off in dangerous places, you should be very careful. Do not rush yourself and rush the model, because falling on sharp stones will result in injuries and damage to equipment. Comfortable and appropriate shoes for the photographer and for the model. If in the picture the model should be in high-heeled shoes, then change the shoes after the model takes the desired position. It is very desirable to help the model when moving around the location. I always take the security of my models very seriously when shooting. When the model feels safe, she pays more attention to shooting.
