Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken at Bronte beach on the east coast of Australia near Sydney. It is one of my favourite beaches to shoot at.

Time

I took this with my dji magic pro just after sunrise around 7am one summer morning. I love the way the shadow falls off the wave showing the depth of the wave.

Lighting

I always like to shoot in nature with natural light so for me the best time to do this is early morning or late afternoon to get dramatic lighting happening.

Equipment

This was shot with my DJI Mavic pro

Inspiration

I love the ocean, I find it powerful and peaceful and also very mesmerising at times. Taking this shot with the drone just gives an added view on things you wouldn't normally see otherwise.

Editing

I didn't have to do too much editing for this has the colours were very vibrant from the original file. Slight tweaking here and there but overall not much.

In my camera bag

I normally shoot most landscapes with my Canon 6D and either the 24-105mm lens or my 17-40mm wide angle lens. Other gear I do use at times will be the mavic pro and my GoPro hero 7 black.

Feedback

Sydney beaches are some of the most picturesque beaches in the world. You can always find something to shoot but the best time to do this is in the Australian summer. Colours are vibrant, beaches are crowded with people of all walks of life. And for the dramatic lighting you need to get up early for sunrise to capture the colours at their best.
