Waddesdon Manor was built for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in the 1870s to a design based on the great Renaissance châteaux of the Loire Valley. Baron Rothschild displayed his extensive collections, including portraits by Gainsborough and Reynolds, and entertained his fashionable guests here. Every Christmas, the house if beautifully decorated and a light trail is staged in the grounds.
