This photo was taken in my own home, in the morning light. It’s a self portrait that reflects my feelings in that period of time. I’m an self thought Photographer which have no studio and I usually take picture in home with natural light like this one.Time
Photography is an art of capturing feelings for me. A way to express myself and my feelings without words. Portraits are an struggle for me, these days many photographers take portraits and to be honest, very pro and beautiful portraits they are, but many of them is the same and maybe they lacks of feelings. Anyways, when I take portraits I always want to show the persons character and feelings. In this photo which taken in September 2015, I had some personal life struggles and I wanted to show my inner feelings somehow. And it did work at the time. I felt like expressed my feelings.Lighting
I usually don’t use any lighting equipment in my photographs. And in this photo I used morning light from a window which lighten my room. I think natural light is amazing if you use it in proper time and angle. I can remember so many times which the light driven me to photography. And I made some adjustment in light using Lightroom and Photoshop to make it look more like what is in my mind and closer to the feelings I wanted to show.Equipment
My gear is a Nikon D5500 which I took this photo with too. The ISO was 100, with a 140mm focal length. I usually take portraits with wide diaphragm which is in this photo was in f 5.6 and the shutter speed was 1/13. there wasn’t any other special equipment in this photo.Inspiration
As I told I wanted to show the hidden feelings I couldn’t speak straight forward about them. And like Always I used photography for a way to express myself. I think many introverted people do it, and they have their special ways. That expression feeling is wonderful even if just few people get how you felt in that moment.Editing
In my portrait photography I usually convert my raw file to dng format with Lightroom. Then I use Photoshop to do some retouch and light adjustment. I may do some color adjustment as well. And at the end I use Lightroom again to final light and color adjustments I wanted. I did the same process in this photo too.In my camera bag
I have my Nikon D5500 with a 18-140 mm lens. I have a 16gb memory and thats it. I wanted to buy an prime 50mm lens for more portrait photography but I couldn’t afford it actually yet. But I think it could be a great lens for portraits and I hope some day I get it.Feedback
For me photography is feeling, and the starter is the feeling which lead me to the photos. I think if you want to capture a great photo, and specially if you want to take portraits, you must never forget about the feelings. Then you must try to show that feelings in the best way you can, first in the person whom you taking picture of. He/she must be comfortable With the pose and, be herself/himself at that pose. Then you must find the right angle ant light and last but not least in post processing you must turn it to your special own personal photograph.
