Picture is taken looking out over McMurdo sound in the Ross sea. Shot it early April, the sun at this time of year begins to set, following a constant sun-filled summer, to a sun-less winter. Pancake ice begins to form as air and water temperatures drop, beginning the cycle of sea ice for a whole new year. The Royal Society mountain range is seen at the horizon, as pre dawn light filled the skies.
