A square-shaped castle with two round towers, located above the village of Migiana di Monte Tezio.
In 1282 there is Villa Megiane superioris Montis Teuzi and villas Megiane S. Petri Montis Teuzi both with 9 fireplaces. In 1296 the Perugian Magistrates built a source on the village of San Pietro di Migiana, which, however, a century later (1380) is no longer mentioned in the documents, probably because abandoned.
In 1473 the community of Migiana di Monte Tezio made use of the help of the Municipality of Perugia in order to complete the castle whose construction had already begun in 1455. The men of Migiana ask and get from the priors and the camerari of the arts the grant of 30 florins.
The document is of particular importance because it gives us the date of the beginning of the works - 1455 - and because it shows us how still in 1473 these have not reached complete fulfillment. On December 22nd, 1480, the community of Migiana returns again to plead with the Municipality of Perugia for a grant of another 30 florins.
The document of 11 August 1481 reveals that the current castle had to be almost completed at the expense of the inhabitants of the area and of those citizens who had assets there. In it complains about the little help given by the Municipality of Perugia, we therefore ask for a subsidy for the construction of a well (or a source or a preserve) so that the castle is provided with water and the inhabitants can be safely there in times of danger. However, the castle remained unfinished.
Even today, in correspondence with the north-east and north-west corners, the predisposed ties for the two towers never built are observed. The original entrance was the one located on the east side, whose door was surmounted by some corbels of which we can see traces, made to support the piombante defense apparatus (corbels, merlons, machicolations).
Still today the primitive nucleus of the castle is still evident, corresponding to the north-west corner of the same, built in the twelfth century with the purpose of checking the underlying road that, starting from Perugia, led to Gubbio, passing through the castle of Murlo or for the castle of Pieve San Quirico.
In the cadastral map of 1728 it is already identified as Castel Vecchio.
It has a church or votive chapel dedicated to Sant'Eurasia, protector of crops and the countryside in general.A square-shaped castle with two round towers, located above the village of Migiana di Monte Tezio.
