I visited Homs, Syria in January 2006 as well as many other towns in Syria. On the trip to Egypt, Syria and Jordan, I found the people of Syria to be the most friendly and interested in what brought four Americans to the Middle East. Many, even in the desert Bedouin tents, spoke English and invited us into the homes for strong coffee or tea. Syria is the site of many World Ancient Antiquities , cultures and home to much of early travel and civilization. Starting just a few years later, conflict broke out between the religious and ethnic factions in the country, Russia and the US had contentious relations over US. When the war broke out, humanitarian principles were thrown away, poison gas, bombing of hospital and conditions of was created the greatest group of refugees since WW11. Causes of conflict and war where that after WW! British and French split and and put groups of people who didn't like each other together. al Assad, the Syrian leader massacred thousands and thousands of Syrian using weapons --poison gas, and other weapons banned by other countries. The was has been described as a proxy was between the US and Russia.
