The Rubi-legged Black Millipede (Doratogonus rubipodus) occurs in a small area around Kloof, Waterfall and Giba Gorge in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. This species was first collected as recently as 1996, and was named 'rubipodus' for its pink feet. It has been categorised as Endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, due to the loss of habitat resulting from current urban development.
