Location
This photo was taken from a hilltop park in Portland, OR. I do not recall the name of the park, as I was given a poorly drawn map to the area, but my friend had little time and really wanted me to see the sunrise from this location.Time
This was taken approximately an hour, or so after sunrise. I got lost attempting to find the park, so I missed the sun creating the horizon, however I had hiked around this park fairly extensively, by the time I’d taken this shot.Lighting
The lighting is natural.Equipment
Shit with Nikon D3200, 18-55mm Kit lens.Inspiration
I had hiked a bit waiting for the fog to lift, when I hiked up a huge staircase and rounded a small bluff into this scene. It was like something out of a storybook really. The way the sunlight cut through the fog, like little spotlights illuminating just the little things.Editing
I did minor post-processing to this photo in Lightroom PC. I attempted to preserve the scene as best I could with the tools at my disposal. In my camera bag
I used a Nikon D3200 here, but have since upgraded to a Nikon D5300. I always have two kit lenses in my bag. A Nikkor 18-55mm VRII and a Nikkor 55-300mm VR. And about a quarter of the time I have a Sigma 90mm macro lens, though I prefer street photography and landscapes over macro photography, because my vision is not the best and I shake more and more as I age.Feedback
Wake up early and get out and do things. Hike, bike, drive, travel.. Be observant and always investigate the other side of the bluff!
