Scotland's Orkney Islands are among the rare places left with Pictish standing stones that date back more than 1,100 years. In the late spring and early summer, the sun doesn't set until close to midnight. To make this photo, I stood outside on a chilly night until the sun was below the mountains to the west and the lighting was just right.
