Drizzly overcast walk at Gardeners Park. I like how this came out, considering there was no sun. Nikon D70 - 590 nm IR #infrared #infrared_images #CreativeIR #lifepixel #nikon #landscape #luminar

Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at Gardiners Park in Brightwaters, Long Island, New York.

Time

Taken mid morning. It was very overcast and usually infrared photography needs lots of natural sunlight to get the effects I’m usually after but this photo came out much better than expected.

Lighting

The lighting for infrared photography at the time this picture was taken was honestly horrible. Usually the leaves would be stripped of color and left white, but in his case it gave the leaves a yellowish tint which actually made the photo more dramatic.

Equipment

Nikon D70 permanently converted with an internal 590 nanometer wavelength infrared filter.

Inspiration

Nothing specific. I was out for a walk with my daughter and just grabbed my camera. I thought at the time the way the tree limbs converged over the path made it look like the interior of a large church....so I names the photo “Cathedral”.

Editing

This photo was edited using Luminar Flex and was accomplished channel swapping the red and blue channels, and some minor contrast adjustments.

In my camera bag

Currently a full spectrum Nikon D7000 with a variety of different wavelength infrared filters.

Feedback

I concentrate almost exclusively on infrared photography. I’m self taught and learned all I could searching the internet for written and video tutorials.
