Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on a road trip on the west coast of Ireland in County Clare. The castle is called Dunguaire Castle and is a popular destination for tourists. I'm not a keen photographer but had my trusty little Canon Camera with me and took this picture.

Time

This was taken late on May evening about 10 years ago. We were driving past and had to stop to admire the wonderful vista in front of us.

Lighting

The atmosphere and light in the late evening was unbelievable. To be perfectly honest I did not set up this shot, I just pulled my camera out took one shot and that is what you see here..

Equipment

This was taken on a Canon Ixus 65 point and shoot camera.. I had no tripod, this was taken solely by hand!

Inspiration

I found this to be a magical but mysterious place. I find myself drawn to old Irish castles and ruins, their history and stories intrigue me.

Editing

I did edit this later but only a small bit as the light and colours were already perfect and wanted to capture that exact moment.

In my camera bag

At present I use mainly my iPhone to take photo's. However I do sometimes take my Panasonic FZ1000 with me and am now venturing into capturing places with my DJI drone.

Feedback

I'm a firm believer that you need to capture the moment. By the time you have set up a tripod and altered the camera to the settings that you desire, Then that moment has passed!
