This was an unplanned... serendipitous stop. The bus driver decided to give us folks a chance to MARVEL at our indigenous ancestors' great work of art as we zipped through the rugged mountainside of Northern Luzon. We only got to see her for a few short minutes after looking the wrong way the entire time.

Although there are several lesser known terraces carved in the mountains of Ifugao (we specifically wanted to visit the ones in Batad), the Banaue Rice Terraces has long been touted as the great "Eighth Wonder of the World." It's commonly believed that the terraces were carved largely by hand dating back some 2,000 years ago in pre-colonial Philippines and if her steps were put end to end, it could encircle half of Earth.

P.S. Thanos was wise to settle here. It's a beaut. Hopefully, he's not into wakeskating stunts.
