Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Adel Dam nature reserve in Leeds UK. I was sat in a hide watching different birds when the Mallard came and sat in front of me in all its glory.

Time

This was taken during the afternoon mid week when it was quite only people who love the quite & tranquil setting of the reserve or interested photographers.

Lighting

The sun was out & it was not directly into me or the Mallard so was just in a beautiful position & light casting over.

Equipment

This was taken with my old camera which was an Olympus ELP 3 using a basic lens, which was not the most expensive or complex camera to use but produced some great pictures.

Inspiration

As at the time I was just starting a fresh from a few years of not taking much in the way of pictures I thought birds & nature in general as a good way to start & as such a beautiful looking bird I just could not take its picture.

Editing

There was no post pho processing it was just I took it which was a massive pleasure to see the result.

In my camera bag

When I go out now I have my Canon D700 with its standard lens & a 75-300 Canon Lens, my monopod, tripod, remote control as these are the main items I might need.

Feedback

The main thing about taking pictures is patient especially when it’s animals, birds even the weather can change so much in such a quick moment, look at the area you are in & what you can see & does it make sense because it could be just another picture but think about it & it could be The Picture.
