This is one of my favorite photos. A family member had given me the rose when we had stopped by his place. He had been trimming his rose bushes and had accidently clipped this one off and gave it to me. On our way home I had set it on my lap while chatting with my son who was driving. When I looked down I thought, wow that looks really pretty against my black yoga pants, the colors really stand out. I grabbed my phone and snapped this photo.Time
It was taken in the late afternoon. Around about 4 or 5.Lighting
The afternoon lighting was perfect, the sunlight was defused as it came through my car windows and made for the perfect lighting on the rose and adding just the right amount of shadowing and really made the colors pop.Equipment
I just used the camera on my cellphone.Inspiration
The pure beauty of the rose; the colors against the black with the lighting through the windows, I couldn't resist saving the beauty of it.Editing
No post processing. In my camera bag
I have a Canon Eos Rebel t5 with a Sigma 18 to 300mm lense. Extra batteries and charger, remote for shutter, a lense hood and lense cloth, brush and cleaner in my bag at all times.Feedback
Always have some sort of camera with you, you never know when a great photo op will literally land in your lap and just enjoy snapping away.
