Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken in Liverpool Dock in September 2018.

Time

It was late morning and we went to the dock to look around and find somewhere to eat lunch.

Lighting

The light is natural, the blue sky is a perfect background that you can see reflected in the water and the buildings. Somehow it gives it balance even though the picture itself is not perfect, its interesting and catches the eye because you can focus on the foreground and the background.

Equipment

I am honestly not sure if this was my Canon camera or my Samsung S9 phone - its most likely to be my phone camera and the shape, size of the picture would suggest this.

Inspiration

I picked this image because I like the symmetry of the cables and rigging framing the distant buildings, old and new. I like to photograph architecture and interesting structures. The famous Liver birds can be seen high on the towers of the old Royal Liver Building. I was struck by the contrast of the architecture you see here, spanning hundreds of years.

Editing

No, its a raw image.

In my camera bag

A Canon Digital Bridge camera and my Samsung mobile phone - I don't have any special lenses.

Feedback

Look around for the shapes and structures that catch your eye and intrigue you - if your interested in them, maybe other people will be too.
