Congratulations on Winning my Ohio Waterfall Challenge! Your beautiful photo is well executed and shows one of the most unique waterfalls in the state.
See all

Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at Robinson Falls in southeast Ohio, more commonly known as "Corkscrew Falls." It is in the Hocking Hills region of Ohio.

Time

This image was taken in the late afternoon/early evening

Lighting

This was an overcast day so i knew it would be suitable for Waterfall photography.

Equipment

This was shot with an a6500 Sony camera with the full-frame 90mm macro lens attached. With this lens attached it was an effective 135mm focal length.

Inspiration

These beautiful falls show some unique geology in Ohio that is not well-known outside the state. These falls are visible by permit only and are not marked on maps.

Editing

This image was processed in lightroom to taste.

In my camera bag

i normally carry mutiple bodies to avoid changing lenses in the field. Right now i shoot primarily with the Sony a7riii, the Sony a6500, and the Panasonic FZ-1000.

Feedback

Shoot during overcast conditions if possible to limit dynamic range and preserve as much contrast as possible. I also utilized a polarizing filter on my lens and of course a tripod and cable shutter release.
