Location
This photo was taken in the college area of Flint at their local Cafe Rhema. A cozy sort of I want to say "prohibition era" themed cafe that I just adore shooting at.Time
This was a senior session in the beginning of the colder months , mid day. We wanted to make sure we had enough daylight for the shoot as the sun sets much sooner during the winter solstice.Lighting
I absolutely love natural , moody lighting. Really gives the image a vibe / feeling . To evoke a certain feeling when seeing an image is what I hope to cause.Equipment
The only equipment I brought with me that day was the Canon 5D MK ii with a 50mm lens. I did have a speedlight but I usually only use that if I'm shooting in dim light.Inspiration
I am inspired by the world. I am able to view things differently I feel. That "creative eye" that folks talk about is real. I've had people tell me when they see me shooting from a strange angle that I might want to move a certain way and I ask them to just trust me. And when they see the image they understand. Sharing the way I see the same things as others but in a different perspective.Editing
I edit mainly in Lightroom when I do post work because I like a more natural and raw appeal to an image rather than a highly photoshopped image. In my camera bag
I have two camera bodies and a couple of lenses along with batteries , chargers, see cards , a lens cleaner, and some odds and ends . Sometimes even mini smoke bombs just incase we ( client and myself) feel spontaneous.Feedback
In my experience I find that I really love to shoot the image with a darker exposure then lighten as needed in post because working with glass and the natural glares and reflections it has might cover your subject. Some glares make for an interesting effect on the photo. But it is really just a learn as you go and practice practice practice type of shot.
