I'm blind, mixed race, foreigner, asexual, I have them all. It could have been me, if I were alive during those times. I still have my shoes on, and I'm very thankful for it.

I so appreciate and feel this photo and your words. My parents survived Auschwitz and lost nearly everyone. It is the measure for all of my life’s challenges - if they could do that then I can do this. I have learned that many children of survivors feel this. We are all named for grandparents, aunts and uncles who we never knew because they were murdered by the Nazis. Thank you for this touching photo

Glad you resonate with my photo. I am not Jewish, nor Romani. I'm from a completely different part of the world, but I know that if I were alive in those days, for sure I would have died too. I struggle with suicidal tendencies, I have to work on this problem and it has been there since I was 12. When I'm feeling really down, I go to the shoes. The people who had no choice... It is like a slap in the face for my silly thoughts. Now I can live and I should be thankful that I'm alive today. This is why I did this shot, and a few more shots, I'm just a little bit afraid of the controversy.

Whenever I take pictures or capture anything really, my biggest goal, to tell a story. This picture does that and more. Very creative and touching BP.
