This is a copy of which the original is in the Vatican Museum. Group of Sculptures work of Lorenzo Ottoni (1648-1736) around 1688-1692.The Nile is always represented by a beardedman, lying down, carrying a cornucopia and flanked byasphinx. In addition, friezes of characters and animals adorn 3 sidesof the sculpture.The group was installed there aroun 1720, and classified in the inventory of the historical monuments in 1961.The principal statue is decked all around putti nudes, to the number of 16, a figure which marks the 16 cubits of increase of its level that the Nile had to produce the great (raw) fertitlity of Eygypt.
