At the shore of Parangkusumo Beach, religious leaders lead melasti ceremony, a ritual of self-purification using water of life. For Hindus, water of life or tirta amerta, such as ocean and lake, is a holy water that gives life to all. Thus the ritual of self-purification is always carried out at the seashore or lakeside.
