Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a local pond that I visit often. I'm a self taught photographer, so I take advantage of what I can while I'm out.

Time

I go to one pond in particular after work. It is a great way to relieve stress. I was walking around the pond one afternoon after work and came across this Green Heron, almost as if it knew my schedule and was waiting for me.

Lighting

I use the natural lighting to the best of my ability. I've learned during my visits where the light was best during the time I was shooting.

Equipment

This was shot with a Nikon D5600 with the Tamron 150-600 G2 lens. No other equipment was involved

Inspiration

I love Green Herons and am always looking for a new way to photograph them but with an uncluttered background. Although this wasn't in the environment I would have preferred to photograph it in, I really liked the lighting and the background

Editing

I don't do much post-processing. I made a few slight adjustments but did no other changes were made.

In my camera bag

I always have my Nikon D5600 and Tamron 150-600 G2 lens - I never remove the lens. I usually have a wide angle lens and a macro lens with me in the off chance there is not much wildlife around.

Feedback

Wildlife photography is a challenge and about being in the right place at the right time. One thing I've learned is to be patient and shoot every day, if you can.
