The dam "Spitallamm" (arch dam, 114 meters high) was completed in 1932. The crown length measures 258m with a barrier volume of 340'000 m³. The Grimselsee is therefore a reservoir in the headwaters of the Aare in the canton of Bern. It is the largest (volume: about 100 million m³) of several neighboring reservoirs, in the Grimsel area.
