Behind The Lens

Location

I took this image at Sydney Motorsport Park, NSW, Australia, during the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship Super Night.

Time

I took this late in the afternoon during the sunset, we had some beautiful golden light coming through on Saturday evening. This was the first of the modern night race events to be held by Supercars Australia.

Lighting

The lighting was good one of the few events held in Sydney where we get to play during golden hour. During summer the sun sets much later and racing is usually finished by 4:30pm, the event was held in August so the sun was still setting earlier, with golden hour setting in around 4pm.

Equipment

I used my Nikon D7200 camera and Nikon 70-200mm F4 lens to create this image.

Inspiration

The light.

Editing

Very minimal processing, i should re edit this image to give it the pop it deserves!

In my camera bag

When I'm shooting at the track i always have two cameras with me, my D500 paired with my Nikon 200-500mm F5.6 lens and my D7200 paired with the Nikon 70-200mm F4 lens. These are my primary lenses, i have a few others like my Nikon 300mm F4 but they aren't used as often for track shots. In the past I've used my 18-200mm F3.5-5.6 kit lens for pit shots but now have an even wider lens, which I'm looking forward to using soon.

Feedback

Capture you own image, It's great to get inspiration from other photographers but it's much more satisfying to be creating your own, rather than trying your hardest to copy others.
